Volunteering Again! My small part.....

I am volunteering to knit 6x9 rectangles for http://www.rectangle6x9.org/ This voluteer group takes the rectangles, sorts them, designs the layout, assembles them, washes and packages them for distribution to our Armed Forces wounded. The afghans are distributed to 10 military hospitals state-side and abroad.

Here I am crocheting rectangles from volunteers like me. I requested a blanket that needed assemblying from my Rectangle Collector contact.

I will be sending this one back for final washing, photographing, packing and distribution. Hopefully it will bring some comfort to one of our wounded warriors.
If you would like to contibute to this cause but can not knit or crochet, there is a wish list of needs! Click here to see the list: http://www.rectangle6x9.org/Wish%20List.htm Then contact me and I will get your donations to the voluteer group! THIS IS A VOLUNTEER GROUP, THIS IS NOT A 501 ORGANIZATION. DONATIONS ARE NOT TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Hilary's Afghan

I made this for one of my best friends. Hilary received this on St. Valentine's Day as a token of my love for her. She's been there when most would have ran screaming in the other direction! We have been close for over 20 years.

Pattern Source:
Name Squares: Instead of garter stitching the letters, I did them in stockingnette stitch and did the Intarsia technique. http://www.knittingknonsense.com/ALPHA_TABLE.htm

Other Squares: From the book "Learn to Knit Afghan" by Barbara G. Walker

Needle size: US 10
Yarn: worsted weight 100% acrylic
Time invested: approx. 150 hours.

Thank you Hilary! You are such a wonderful friend!
